Parts Sourcing & Carbon Sourcing

Which parts does SGS source?

Our focus is on carbon/CFRP components (about 70% of volume) — from structural parts and body panels to interior and aerodynamic elements. In addition we source plastic injection-molded parts, metal components and composite materials.

Where do the suppliers come from?

Primarily China, with ISO-certified partners experienced in autoclave, RTM and prepreg processes. All suppliers are personally audited by us on-site and continuously evaluated.

How does a sourcing project work?

From initial inquiry through supplier selection, technical alignment, sampling and quality assurance to series delivery — we manage the entire process. One contact for everything.

Does SGS work on small series?

Yes. We specialize in small and special series with flexible scaling — exactly where large purchasing departments often don’t go.

How is quality ensured?

Through first-article inspections (PPAP/EMPB), on-site production support and regular audits to VDA and IATF standards. We are the quality control layer between you and the supplier.

What’s the advantage over a classic in-house procurement?

Senior expertise with direct supplier access — without building your own resources in Asia. Faster response times, personal relationships on-site, deep technical understanding — at transparent project costs.

Project Management

What kinds of projects does SGS take on?

Complex vehicle projects from the concept phase through pre-series to start of production (SOP). Tooling relocations, supplier transitions and escalation projects are part of our scope as well.

What standards does SGS work to?

To common automotive standards (APQP, PPAP, VDA), with deep familiarity with the processes of leading OEMs. Reporting, risk control and milestone discipline are a given.

Can SGS step in on short notice?

Yes. For escalations or capacity gaps, we can support quickly and flexibly — without long onboarding.

Does SGS handle coordination between supplier and OEM?

That’s exactly one of our core strengths. We act as the bridge between Asia and Europe — with technical and cultural understanding on both sides.

Product Development

Which CAD systems does SGS use?

Mainly CATIA V5 and Autodesk Fusion. We develop parts to OEM standards — from initial design to manufacturing-ready engineering.

Which materials does SGS work with?
