Case Study 1 – Carbon Sourcing for a Sports Car Manufacturer

Starting point: A German sports car company needed visible-carbon exterior parts (front bumper, side skirts, rear spoiler) from Asian production at OEM quality and IATF conformity.

Approach: SGS audited 8 candidates in China, qualified 2 suppliers, supported the initial sample release (PPAP) and took over ongoing quality monitoring.

Result: 23 % cost reduction compared to previous European suppliers at the same visible-carbon quality. Production launch on schedule.

Case Study 2 – Tool Relocation from Germany to China

Starting point: A European automotive supplier commissioned SGS with the complete relocation of a tooling program from Germany to China, including supplier selection, tool handover, sampling and production launch.

Approach: SGS took over the entire project management on site: coordination between the German client and the Chinese supplier, quality assurance during the relocation, PPAP releases and schedule tracking.

Result: Relocation completed in 9 months. 30 % fewer project hours compared to similar predecessor projects.
